The politicians pound the flesh, accept the bribes and steal the rest, And when the voter does his best, he’s getting screwed like a lady undressed.
Election’s are the sign of our Democracy, but the way they get stolen shows the true Hypocrisy, The hanging chads give way to computer hacker’s play and without a paper trail, knowing the truth there’s no way.
That’s not to say we shouldn’t vote, our exercise in futility, So many have died to keep afloat, our societal civility.

It’s hard to stomach the fact that the results won’t reflect our choice, That’s because the lobbyist’s dollars give the ax to the mythical people’s voice.
I sound so cynical, so utterly disaffected, yet I see the power of the people if we only get connected, They divide us over hot button issues like we’re championship contenders, and when we call them on their pledges, we’ve suddenly become the crown’s pretenders
No matter how the past has gone there’s hope for our future, It will take heart surgery, recuperation and sutures,
Let’s lance the boil, reign in big oil, we can dig up our independence from our own soil, coal energy could last 250 years, Fields of corn and crops that we pay farmers not to grow, could become the fuels to get us to and fro

Instead of trying to protect those who hate us in the Middle East, we could bring our troops home and live in peace
Pharmaceutical Giants keep us hooked on drugs, Medical Health Monopolies rob us like thugs, Universal Health Care would stop them all in their tracks, Instead of letting the nations poor fall through the cracks, Decent housing as a right would be a noble goal, Let’s start in the Gulf Coast where Katrina exposed the Government’s Soul, Educating all our people to the extent of their abilities, respect for those we don’t agree with to protect our Civil Liberties,
All this sounds so impossible and will dismissed as Communism, Aren’t we a Christian nation, and something I learned in my Catechism, All things are possible through God no matter who you call him

Allah, Buddha, Yahweh, Jesus even no belief, we all have something in common,
We need some immediate relief.
